Cyndy
Violette's Poker History
Cyndy
Violette was born in Queens, New York. When Cyndy
was 12 years old her family moved to Las Vegas,
Nevada. Cyndy enjoyed playing cards with her Uncle
as a child, and that seemed to have instilled
her love of poker. Amusingly, her first time playing
poker in a casino was when she was 22 and pregnant
with her daughter Shannon. But it wasn't her last
time playing poker. Cyndy had been dealing blackjack
and poker until she entered a poker tournament
in Lake Tahoe in 1984 and decided to become a
professional poker player. After a few years Cyndy
got married and stopped playing poker for a few
years. Cyndy had later won the Golden Nugget poker
tournament ($74,000 most money ever won by a woman
at the time), and the Caesars Palace poker tournament
($62,000) reviving her love of poker.
Cyndy Violette spent the
summer at the Taj Majal once poker was legalized
in Atlantic City and finally moved there in 1994.
She enjoyed living in Atlantic City and wrote
a few poker related books and poker articles there.
But most people would recognize Violette from
the women's show on the World Poker Tour. In 2004,
Cyndy finally achieved her dream of winning the
7 card stud high-low tournament of the World Series
of Poker. She now can enjoy her World Series bracelet,
the $135,900 in prize money, and the title as
poker champion.
