Cathy
"Cat" Hulbert was one of the first women to be
respected as a professional card player in the
1960s and 1970s. In 1996, Cathy was the only woman
listed in Card Player magazine's top seven-card-stud
professional poker players. Prior to becoming
a professional poker player and professional blackjack
player, Hulbert traveled the world as one of the
first and only female professional card counters
and is well known as being a part of Ken Uston's
group. Cathy was arrested over 50 times for trespassing
and was banned from casinos but that didn't stop
her. Hulbert then got a wig and a beard and took
acting lessons so she could be disguised as a
man. After learning blackjack and slots in 1986,
Cathy met David Heyden and Rick Greider, two of
the best seven-card-stud players in the world
and began taking poker lessons.
Cathy now has a website that
offers poker articles and poker news, as well
as a poker lessons section. Hulbert also was featured
recently in a Travel Channel special on Las Vegas
titled "Las Vegas: Gambling with the Pro's". This
episode discussed professional gamblers, including
Cathy Hulbert, sharing their secrets for beating
the Las Vegas casinos. Cathy Hulbert now works
to support women poker players by offering them
lessons to learn her poker tricks as a means succeed
at poker.
You can play with all kinds
of celebrity female poker players and poker pros
