Overview:
Hollywood
Poker
is my top
poker site, but I'll try to give the most
unbiased and objective review as possible despite
that. Hollywood is one of the relatively newer
sites (at the time of this writing, they've been
around for about a year and half). Because of
that, they've had time to study the other sites
and see what they're doing right and wrong, and
improve upon that.
There is a no-download option
for those who are playing away from home or on
a secured computer, or a solid and stable PC/Mac/Linux
compatible download. Hollywood Poker is one of
the few who offer this multi-platform download
version, and still offer the "no download"
option.
In the lobby, it's easy to
find where you want to be. Play money and real
money games are nicely seperate, and tournament
and table games are in completely different sections.
There are room stats on every table.

The software is the
much the same as that used on PokerRoom, but with
a red felt scheme and different avatars. The graphics
are just as slick as PokerRooms, and it's easy
to follow the action around the table with the
speach bubbles. The interface is intuitive and
has all the usual options.

Tournaments and Promotions:
There are plenty of tournaments
and promos happening at HP all the time. The weekly
Celebrity Classic is a great event, as is the
Celebrity Poker Night, which is hosted by a different
celeb each week. The $10+1 Michael Woods Invitational
is another cool event, which is held weekly Bigger
promos include the World Series of Poker Central,
with $100,000 in prize money, the $1,950,000 Guaranteed
six event Grand Series Of Poker, and more.
Conclusion:
The website for Hollywood
is visually attractive and fairly easy to navigate
through. I would say the community is a medium
sized one, but everyone is very enthusiastic and
friendly, and customer support is quick and thorough.
My favourite part about Hollywood Poker has got
to be the celebrity angle... I love being able
to play against celebs in weekly tournaments,
and taking them out for bounty prizes. So far
I've played with Donnie Wahlberg, Dennis Quaid,
Mena Suvari, Ronny Cox, Ashley Dorenzo, and Vince
Van Patten. Now I just need to play against James
Woods, and I can die happy. Hollywood Poker is
definitely my top online
poker room.
