| Allison
Janney was born in Dayton, Ohio. She dreamed of
being an Olympic figure skater before she endured
a childhood injury. While attending Kenyon College,
her acting talent was recognized by director Paul
Newman. Her first acting ventures were with soap
operas.
Allison moved on to appear
in many films including the films American Beauty,
Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Ice Storm, Primary Colors,
Private Parts, Nurse Betty, The Hours, How to
Deal and Finding Nemo.
In 1999 Allison was cast
in a role on the television drama The West Wing,
which she has won four Emmy Awards. Allison has
remained active in theatre; in 1998, she was nominated
for a Tony Award for her role in Arthur Miller's
"A View from the Bridge."
