Jessica Simpson S 'n' G Strategy cont...

I ended the last blog by saying I fold KK 100% of time in a certain position. I would fold AA, KK, any hand in this position. (If you didn't have a chance to read my last blog please check it out here)

So let's refresh your memory :

$200 SnG, Top 3 get paid. Blinds are 100-200
You have 14,700 chips
Player A has 1500
Player B 1500
Player C 300

Basically you have a MONSTER chip lead and unless a miracle happens you should take this tournament down.

Hand plays out like this..

Player A folds (UTG)
Player B folds (Button)
You are in BB with KK or AA or 10 Aces for that matter
Player C had $200 in for big blind, and only $100 left.

I fold. Yes I fold.

Here is my reasoning behind it before you start thinking I've lost my marbles.

Player A & B at this point are thinking "I just want to make the money, I'm not going to take any unnecessary risks until I get in the money."

Me folding that hand is only adding $100 to Player C chips stack. This brings the grand total to $400. WHO CARE'S ABOUT $400 chips?

We've been in player A & B's head lets now take a look into player C's head. "I hope either Player A or Player B makes a stupid mistake and goes up against that big stack. Wow it would feel great to sneak into the money here".

So now that we know what everyone is thinking, do you see my reasoning? What it comes down to is, unless someone wakes up with AA, KK, QQ , JJ or AK in the next 3 hands nobody is going to call me.

I can raise the next 3 hands and maybe 1 out of 100 times someone will actually call. NOBODY WANTS TO GET KNOCKED OUT ON THE BUBBLE.

So I will keep stealing chips and stealing chips from players A & B. Eventually player C is going to get knocked out. Maybe even a miracle could happen where player C chips up and busts player A or B. No matter what happens, me folding in that position is going to give me a better chance to win the tournament.

I can raise and win $300 chips and knock player C out.

The chips would be

ME- 15,000
A- 1500
B- 1500

..or I can fold there, continue to raise and raise, then once we get down to three players the chips will look more like this.

ME- 17,000
A- 500
B- 500

This point might be a little hard to convey on a blog, but I assure you I can argue this in person.

Getting back to my previous blog, I left the men at the table all agreeing that folding was the right decision. This is one of many plays in poker that average player would or could never make. You really have to think outside the box not only in poker but in life to get ahead. Did Bill Gates get rich by trying to steal someone else's idea? I think not...

Until next time, best of luck at the table,

Poker Jill
